Frames

Eyeglass frames do a lot more than hold up your lenses. Ideally, they help express who you are. Like you, your frames can be stylish. They can be practical. They can show quirkiness or whimsy. They can be rugged. Or delicate. Colorful. Or plain. Your eyewear “frames“ your eyes and complements your face. If the eyes really are the windows to the soul, the frames you wear are important.

Quality Materials

Today, eyewear frames incorporate materials that are both beautiful and durable. Titanium, stainless steel and aluminum alloys provide a strong, lightweight frame material. Some metal alloys will return to their original shape if they are twisted--this “memory” reduces the need for frequent fitting adjustments. Best quality metal frames resist tarnishing and are hypoallergenic. Enameled finishes for metal frames are available, providing a range of colors to fit any palette. Durable plastics, even wood, can be crafted into frame components. Plastic frames are generally thicker and more substantial than metal frames. They can provide a bold look or mask the appearance of thicker lenses. Whichever materials you prefer, delicate metal filigree, color and artistic elements can make your eyewear unique.

We work hard to find and select the best frames that are available in the market. We work with top quality manufactures and designers to ensure that you receive the quality of frame you deserve. We look forward to being able to help you find the frame that is right for you.

Design Parameters

To be effective, frames must securely hold the lenses a specified distance in front of the eyes and at the proper angle. Depending on your particular facial structure and the style you prefer, the frames may be supported by the bridge of the nose or by nosepads, which actually rest on the side of the nose. Temple pieces can be fitted to gently grip the side of the head or go over the top of the ears to prevent slippage when looking down. These fitting parameters are customizable—every face is different and no eyewear fits everyone or looks great on every face. What’s important is that the frames you choose be fitted for you, so they help you see well, protect your eyes, and are comfortable. We’ll point out particular designs that may be most suitable for you based on the shape and size of your face, the color of your eyes and hair while keeping in mind for which activities you want to use the glasses.

Regardless of your style preferences and lens prescription, there is just no substitute for trying on frames and seeing how you look. Plan to invest some time at East Bay Eyewear selecting the right frames for you. You’ll be glad you did!
